Cranium Whoonu Tin Edition User Review

Whoonu is quick to play and great fun for stimulating family laughter and conversations! On any turn, the other players have to choose two cards with things that they think the designated “whoozit” will like best. These cards are put in an envelope, and then the “whoozit” player secretly puts them in order from least to most favorite. There are always funny surprises. Although this game says ages 8 and up, it works well for younger children as long as they can read independently. Our Kindergartner is an excellent reader and adores playing this along with both parents and her 8 year old brother. The game takes only minutes to learn and set up, but always varies because there are so many cards. It is not “educational,” but promotes family conversation and time together without major competition. Sturdy design, too! Our family recommends just about any game made by Cranium!

Cranium Hullabaloo User Review

Santa gave this to my 4 & 2 year olds for Christmas this year & they love it! My 4yr old has even played it a couple times on her own & she still had fun playing by herself.

I really like it since there is very little set-up & no small parts to lose. All you have to do is spread the colored pads out on the floor, turn the game on & have the kids follow the directions moving from pad to pad. It was especially funny to see their dad crawling & spinning from pad to pad.

If you have kids that have energy to spare, this is the game for you!

Easy to Learn; Fun to Play
The Hullaballo console is made of sturdy plastic with brightly-colored buttons that are easy for little fingers to find. Batteries aren’t included and parents will need to put those in with the help of a screwdriver before play can start. The easy-to-read, illustrated instructions tell you how to play the game, which is a snap to learn. The console also clearly announces the rules of the game each time you turn it on. (It also plays a bouncy song at the beginning of each round that will stick in your head long after the game is over.)

Do a Funky Dance!
The talking musical console adds an element of excitement and unpredicability to the game. You never know what it will tell you to do next! The catchy music and the instructions to “do a funky dance!” at the end of the rounds especially appeal to kids. (Later, when you’re not even playing the game, you can say, “Do a funky dance!” and they’ll start dancing excitedly all over again.) The pleasing pallette of colors in Hullabaloo are appealing to the eye, from the purple, green, and red console to the multicolored play pads with their slightly retro images. These brightly-colored, sizeable play pads are hard to lose.Yet they are also easy to put away when the game is over.

Get Your Goof On
We especially enjoyed doing the funky dance at the end. We would even do a funky dance at the beginning of each round too– the music is so catchy you just can’t help it! At times, we wished the maximum volume of the console was higher. We also would have appreciated being able to put the batteries in without using a screwdriver. But overall, we found this game to be fun and energizing, with just the right amount of goofiness thrown in. It proceeds at a good pace — slow enough so that kids have time to process the console’s spoken directions, but fast enough to keep things exciting. The rounds are short so you don’t get bored. And there are thousands of combinations of moves so you’ll probably never play the same round again, not matter how many times you play!

Cranium Family Edition User Review

I was looking for a fun family game for our two kids, 8 and 9 and also one my husband and I won’t be bored of. This was a great choice, we had so much fun the time just flew by. The kids also picked it up very quickly and wanted to play with their friends the next day. We decided to take it to our extended family trip over the holiday break and it was a hit. I love that there are different things you need to do and it’s not one of those silly board games parents feel obligated to play along, but rather enjoy.

Cranium Family Edition Specifications

The original highly successful Cranium game is a great way for adults and older children to face off in entertaining challenges. Later games using a similar model were greatly simplified and geared more toward younger players. But with this new family model, everyone can play together. It still employs the same four basic Cranium categories: Creative Cat, Data Head, Star Performer, and Word Worm but within those groupings there are numerous new challenges for players of all ages. Like the traditional game, there is squishable clay for sculpture challenges but now there are also stacking cubes and a set of plastic frogs that players are occasionally called upon to flip. The game board is scaled back a bit, offering a short length of the game. We found the questions and pacing to be brisk and while younger players (age 8 and over, kids younger than that would be fine playing with an older teammate) would be able to have fun, it’s one of those rare family games that adults can actually enjoy playing. –Charlie Williams
